Enlarged Pores

What Are Large Pores?

Pores are tiny openings in the skin that allow sweat and natural oils (sebum) to reach the surface. They play an essential role in keeping your skin balanced and healthy. However, when pores become enlarged, they appear more noticeable—especially on the cheeks, nose, and forehead. Large pores are more common in individuals with oily or aging skin and can easily become clogged with oil, debris, and dead skin cells, increasing the likelihood of acne and breakouts.

Why Do I Have Enlarged Pores?

Genetics are often the primary reason for enlarged pores, but other factors can contribute as well. Excess oil production can cause buildup around the pore opening, making it appear larger. Over time, sun damage and natural aging reduce collagen and elasticity in the skin, which can lead to thicker skin and more visible pores.

Improper skincare habits can also play a role. Makeup that isn’t thoroughly removed may clog pores and make them look more prominent. Additionally, environmental damage and cell buildup around pore openings can further exaggerate their appearance.
