Active Acne

It is often thought that, in order to get the better of spots and acne breakouts, it is necessary to use strong, alcohol based products to dry the skin out. Unfortunately, these same products can make the situation worse by stripping the skin of natural oils and encouraging the sebum glands to work even harder. This increased production of sebum produces increased skin congestion and provides the perfect environment for further bacterial growth.

The Hand piece delivers Intense blue wavelengths of light in the range 420 – 950nm to target the porphyrins produced as part of the normal metabolism of p. acnes bacteria. The interaction of the intense blue light and the porphyrins creates singlet oxygen that rapidly destroys the bacteria without damaging the surrounding tissue.
