What is Derma FNS® Skin Needling?
The Derma FNS® device uses multiple fine needles that vertically penetrate the skin, creating uniform microchannels designed to deliver similar results while minimising damage to the epidermis. The higher density of these channels is believed to produce more effective outcomes compared to traditional dermal rollers.
Through these controlled vertical insertions, the Derma FNS® generates thousands of tiny micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the natural release of growth factors. This process promotes the breakdown of old, fibrous collagen and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin for smoother, healthier skin.
The Derma FNS®pen is a highly effective device for treating a range of skin concerns including:
- Acne scars
- Hypertrophic scars
- Stretch marks
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Pigmentation
- Enlarged pores
NO CROSS CONTAMINATION
SkinMed Needle heads are made using surgical grade steel, in the same facility where the pen is manufactured, resulting in a perfect fit, with no rattle. SkinMed® Derma FNS®’ sealed needles create no cross-contamination risk, as they have a unique barrier ‘membrane’ to protect from any blood borne pathogens.

Top Skin Benefits of Derma FNS®
ANTI-AGING
Softens fine lines and deep wrinkles while firming lax or sagging skin.
TEXTURE & PORES
Minimises enlarged pores and creates a smoother, more even skin tone and texture.
PIGMENTATION CORRECTION
Helps fade hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and uneven complexion.
SCAR REDUCTION
Highly effective at breaking down and remodeling acne, surgical, and traumatic scars.
HAIR & BODY ADVANTAGES
Can be used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and stimulate hair growth for certain types of alopecia.
Advantages Over Traditional Rollers
PRECISION
The vertical pen-style device easily targets delicate, hard-to-reach areas like under the eyes, eyelids, upper lips, and the sides of the nose.
CUSTOMISABILITY
Needle depths can be precisely adjusted on a single head to treat different areas and concerns.
FASTER RECOVERY & LESS PAIN
Because the needles enter and exit the skin vertically, it creates less epidermal trauma, minimising discomfort and downtime.
ENHANCED PRODUCT ABSORPTION
The microchannels act as delivery routes, allowing active serums such as exosomes, hyaluronic acid or growth factors to penetrate deeply into the skin.
Derma FNS® Aftercare
What to Avoid
Skincare products – Avoid scented lotions, soaps, exfoliants (e.g. Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic/alpha-hydroxy acids), acne creams, and gels.
Aggressive cleansing – Do not use loofahs or scrub your skin aggressively.
Extreme temperatures – Wash only with lukewarm water; avoid hot or cold water.
Shaving – Refrain from shaving the treated area.
Swimming & spas – Avoid pools and hot tubs with chlorine or multiple chemicals.
Heavy sweating – Postpone activities causing excessive perspiration.
Sun exposure – Avoid all sun exposure for at least 7 – 14 days and keep the area covered and apply a broad spectrum sunblock with SPF 30 or higher, reapplying every 2 hours.
Comfort and Recovery Tips
Redness & swelling – Mild redness, swelling, or a sunburn-like sensation is normal and may last from a few hours up to several days. Applying ice for the first 24 hours can help reduce swelling.
Soothe the skin – Vitamin E or Aloe Vera may be applied to calm the skin

FAQs
For more general enquiries, please take a look at some of our frequently asked questions.
Does Derma FNS skin needling hurt?
Prior to your Derma FNS® dermal needling treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to numb the skin. Comfortable pressure on the skin and the movement of the Derma FNS® may be felt during treatment.
Is there any downtime with this treatment?
Immediately after treatment the skin will appear red and flushed, and may feel tight and warm. This is a normal, and will begin to subside over the next few hours. In most cases, this subsides completely over 24 hours, with perhaps a slight flush to the skin the following day. We recommend that make-up is not reapplied for 24-48 hours following treatment, and where possible, that this is mineral based. Full aftercare advice will be given to you by your aesthetician, however it is essential that you protect your skin with an SPF daily.
How long does it take to see results?
This can vary, depending on the individual, on the area being treated, and on the settings used.
Results following a Derma FNS® treatment can take up to 4-6 weeks to appear, and as the repair process continues over the following months, these will begin to become more noticeable. We recommend a course of 4 Derma FNS® treatments, carried out 4 weeks apart for optimum skin regeneration.
Which areas can be treated with Derma FNS?
Derma FNS® can be used to treat the face for acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles and skin rejuvenation. Unlike dermaroller treatments, the Derma FNS® has the advantage of being able to treat the upper lip and smokers lines, as well as the crows feet around the eyes. It can also be used on the body to improve the appearance of stretch marks. Pricing for the treatment of stretchmarks may vary depending on the treatment area and size of the area, however a full consultation with our aesthetician will help determine a package price for you.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Derma FNS® is safe for most skin types and is particularly effective for clients looking to improve scarring or uneven skin texture, those wanting to address early signs of ageing, and anyone seeking noticeable results without the use of lasers or injectables. However, the treatment is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or experiencing active skin infections or inflammatory skin conditions.
