How does Red Vein Removal work?
940nm laser technology safely and effectively targets visible red veins, thread veins, facial vascular lesions, and small leg veins without damaging the surrounding skin.
The laser emits a precise wavelength of light that is absorbed by haemoglobin within the blood vessel. This energy gently heats the vein, causing it to collapse and naturally fade over time as the body reabsorbs it.
The 940nm wavelength is particularly effective for superficial vascular concerns because it delivers precise treatment with minimal discomfort and little downtime.
Benefits of 940nm Red Vein Removal
- Treats facial thread veins and small leg veins
- Helps reduce redness and visible vascular lesions
- Precise treatment with minimal skin disruption
- Quick and comfortable procedure
- Little to no downtime
- Supports a clearer, more even complexion
Most clients experience only a mild warming sensation during treatment, with temporary redness that settles quickly afterwards. Depending on the size and number of veins being treated, a course of sessions may be recommended for optimal results.
Tailoring Your Red Vein Removal
At Beauty Within Skin Clinic, we understand that every client and every vascular concern is unique. That’s why we provide a thorough consultation before beginning treatment, allowing our experienced practitioners to create a personalised approach tailored to your skin and concerns.
During your consultation, we’ll assess your medical history, skin type, and the appearance of the veins being treated — including their size, depth, colour, and location — to ensure the treatment is both safe and effective. Whether you are concerned about facial thread veins, redness, or small leg veins, we carefully evaluate each factor to develop a customised treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible results while prioritising your comfort and wellbeing.

What To Expect
Consultation
Before any treatment, we carry out a comprehensive consultation to ensure your laser red vein removal journey is safe, effective, and tailored to your goals.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss your desired results, answer any questions you may have, and review your medical history to identify any factors that could affect treatment. If you decide to proceed, a patch test will be performed to check your skin’s response to the laser.
Based on your consultation, we’ll create a personalised treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible outcome for your red vein removal.
Treatment
Before each red vein removal session, we’ll review your progress, discuss any changes to your health or medical history, and ensure the treatment remains safe and tailored to your needs. We’ll also assess how your skin responded to your previous session or patch test so we can adjust your treatment for the best possible results.
Some discomfort during treatment is normal, but at Beauty Within Skin Clinic we use an advanced cooling device to help minimise discomfort and make the procedure as comfortable as possible. With each session, you’ll see gradual fading of your red veins, moving you closer to your desired result.
Aftercare
After each red vein removal session, following the recommended aftercare is essential to support proper healing and achieve the best possible results. Your practitioner will provide detailed aftercare instructions to help protect your skin and guide you through the healing process.
If you have any questions or concerns during your recovery, our team is always available to offer advice and support, ensuring you receive the highest standard of care throughout your treatment journey.

FAQs
HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED AND DOES IT HURT?
The areas to be treated are firstly shaved, if necessary. Depending on the location and structure of the veins, and particularly if the patient is sensitive to pain, a topical anaesthetic or a form of cooling is applied to numb the surface of the skin. Generally, the small veins do not require any anaesthetic or cooling, and the treatment for these lesions is relatively pain free. During treatment the laser therapist follows the line of the veins with a special focussing applicator or hand piece. Every time a laser pulse is emitted, the vein shrinks, so that the blood is expelled and the vein sealed off.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE TREATMENT AND HOW QUICKLY WILL THE RESULTS BE EVIDENT?
The appearance of the treated area will vary individually from patient to patient, depending on the scale and characteristics of the vascular disorder or lesion. The skin reddens slightly immediately after treatment. This generally disappears after a few hours. In addition, a crust may form after the treatment of larger, more deeply located veins, especially in the legs, but this heals within a few days.
The number of treatments required will depend on the site and the extent of the affected area and will be estimated at your consultation. Larger leg veins usually require at least 3 treatments or possibly more. Subsequent treatments are usually planned at four week intervals. In these cases, the complete treatment may take 2 – 3 months.
Spider veins in the facial area usually disappear completely after one treatment.
We do not carry out treatment on patients who are tanned or have recently been exposed to UV.
SHOULD ANYONE AVOID THIS TREATMENT?
Red vein removal is a safe and effective treatment for many clients, however it may not be suitable for everyone. Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions, active skin infections, open wounds, or are taking medications that increase light sensitivity.
Clients with heavily tanned skin, recent sun exposure, or certain vascular or autoimmune conditions may also require additional assessment before treatment. During your consultation, our experienced practitioners will review your medical history, skin type, and concerns to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate for you. Your safety and wellbeing will always be our priority.
